Six themes were recently announced at a press conference for the upcoming 2018 COMPUTEX show in June.
The 2018 show will be highlighted by the themes of artificial intelligence (AI), 5th-generation mobile communications (5G), the Internet of Things (IoT), gaming and virtual reality (VR), blockchain, and startups.
5th-generation mobile communications and blockchain are the new themes this year. 5G giants Qualcomm and Ericsson, and IBM, the leader of blockchain application technology, will participate in the COMPUTEX FORUM as keynote speakers to share the latest trends in the two fields.
Set to take place on June 5-9 (June 6-8 for InnoVEX), COMPUTEX is one of the leading business-to-business professional information and communication technology trade shows organized by TAITRA and the Taiwan Computer Association (TCA) since 1981.
The InnoVEX exhibit at COMPUTEX, going into the third year, will offer an even stronger lineup of startup companies this year.
More than 300 startups from 19 countries will be participating in this year's InnoVEX. The proportion of international teams will be 40%, of which, one-third are startups in the field of artificial intelligence.
There will also be 13 national pavilions organized by the European Union, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Poland, Malaysia, Mexico and South Korea, a threefold increase over last year.
In 2017, over 41,000 international visitors from over 167 countries attended COMPUTEX. The 2018 show is expected to gather over 1,600 exhibitors.
