Taiwan machinery output forecast to grow 10% in 2018

Source: Taiwantrade | Updated: 15 January 2018

The chairman of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), Alex Ko, recently indicated that Taiwan's machinery output value may increase as much as 10 percent in the next twelve months.

Citing the world's growing demand for new factory automation machinery and equipment, Ko said that many manufacturers are already expecting to run at full capacity till April and May.

Some makers of key parts and components have even reported their production lines are already fully booked for the entire year.

Statistics from the Taiwan Customs revealed that the export total of Taiwan's machinery sector jumped more than 21 percent to over US$25 billion from 2016. Yet, Taiwan's machinery sector can expect another 10 percent growth in 2018.

Thanks to improving market conditions driven by smart manufacturing and industry 4.0 as well as new demands coming from the global automotive, aerospace, energy, electronics, and railroad sectors, 2018 may prove to be another very busy year for Taiwanese machinery manufacturers.
